I Had the pleasure of photographing Jonathan & Sophie’s wedding last weekend at St Mary’s Church in Cannington and the reception at The Castle Hotel Taunton.
The day was truly stunning with bright blue skies and barely a cloud in sight! Every wedding is different of course and some longer than others depending on how long I am required. At Jonathan & Sophie’s wedding I was there for the whole day, so that meant I could really tell the story pictorially from start to finish.
Sophie right from the start said that she wanted vintage styled photos. The images above are before I have added this effect, but there was a very definite (and beautiful) vintage theme throughout the day which of course made for some great photos.
With a number of years of wedding experience now I was able to easily take photos from afar as the day unfolded and capture some really beautiful photographic moments. There were tears, there was excitement, anticipation, and there was plenty of colour.
Jonathan and Sophie were a lovely couple to work with allowing me to take some time to set up some photos with props they had brought along specifically. Sophie’s brilliant taste in decoration (and some lovely flowers by Eden Floral Design ) really made the photos that much more beautiful and their calm and friendly manner meant the whole day went smoothly when it came to photos.
The Castle Hotel Taunton looked completely stunning and must have been one of the best (if not the best) table settings I have ever seen at a wedding. The attention to detail was beautiful. I had to quickly get some photos before everyone sat down and then rush out to get some photos of Sophie and her bridesmaids in front of the vintage bus they had for the day.
Before the wedding I went over the timings of the group photos with Jonathan and Sophie. I am always very realistic with photo timings and I take into consideration delays. I am happy to say we got all the photos and still were ahead of schedule.
So after some great photos of the preparations at the start of the day, the lovely ceremony, photos with parasols in the sun, drinks in the gardens at The Castle Hotel and the meal, then came the evening celebrations. A singer by the name of Stu “Maverick” Edwards was there singing Johnny Cash songs. I have to say, I was impressed; he had the look, the voice and the stage presence. It really was a great evening and I got some really brilliant colourful photos capturing the feel of the dancing. All in all a great day, and Jonathan & Sophie were so pleased with the photos they upgraded their package bought all 500 of them!
