We agreed that I would arrive one hour before the ceremony. This would give me time to get some photos of the exterior of the church, some of the interior, flowers and guests arriving
It was very sunny and hot with a beautiful blue sky. The next day was forecast for heavy rain and I think up until this point in June it had been the wettest June on record or something like that. It certainly had been very soggy!
I had the usual chat with the vicar over the ground rules and then readied myself for Natela to arrive.
The ceremony went well, I was able to quietly and stealthily get the photos I wanted during the hymns, then the signing of the register and walking down the aisle.
Outside, the sun was right overhead so it made for some very unflattering shadows on the face. I wanted to get at least a few photos under the canopy of the trees to give a more flattering look, and also to avoid a few gravestones!
There is always a balance when taking photos like this. I know what will work well, but at the same time it is time away from the guests and family, so I need to be as quick as possible and make it fun. I think those shots under the tree were my favourites of the day and it was the best of the locations available to us that day. Later there weren’t many places that offered such nice dappled light.
After some photos at the church it was off to The George Hotel in the Nether Stowey village. Huw & Natela had arranged with a friend that we could their grade for some group photos as they had some nice flowers. I also thought it would be nice to get some shots walking down the street. the roads were quiet so this was pretty easy. Huw and Natela loved it!
“Ross made our wedding a very special occasion. He was professional at all times, arrived early and took photos of the guests arriving, then took amazing photos inside the church. Outside he gave us directions to get the best photos with humour and fun. At the reception he took exceptional photos of ourselves and our guests. I would recommend Ross to anyone wanting a wedding photographer or a professional photographer for their special day or occasion.”
